DEVOTION TODAY Have you had yours?

By: Pastor Aaron Clark

Jesus says, "God is a Spirit: and they that worship Him must worship Him
in spirit and in truth."
(John 4:24) This points out the problem if you think
about it.  We are spirit beings and He's given the Holy Ghost (I hope you
have received) so, that's not the problem.  There's only one thing left; truth.
"Commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still."  What do
hear in the stillness?  After the waves of all the cares of this life are stilled,
truth slowly trickles in.  It is in this instance that you must be still, for you will
hear the inner most parts of your being and they can be pretty ugly; but it's
for your good.
"The spirit of man is the candle of the LORD, searching all the inward
parts of the belly."
(Proverb 20:27) As sinners, we were called all sorts of
things; all of which we could ignore or deny.  It is when the light of God
shines on it that it becomes a task to be still.  You can walk off and live in
darkness or you can stay and experience the God of grace and peace.
That's where He is and no where else.
Has the light of God shined on anything in you that you just didn't want to
face the truth about?  If not, I doubt if you've ever been in His presence any
length of time.  If not, you probably have many unnecessary struggles, are
always focused on a problem you have, and have a good explanation for
ungodly behavior.

We've been made accepted in the beloved and now let us draw near with
a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an
evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water, for God is faithful
and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all
unrighteousness.
(Ephesians 1:6,Hebrews 10:22,1 John 1:9)  The things
you hear in secret are for your benefit.  Jesus did not come to condemn
you, but that you, through Him might have life, and have it more abundantly.
As complicated as it may seem,  worship is incredibly simple.  The real
task lies in being still in the light.  Dealing with the truth is the only path to
true worship.  No bible, no rituals, no relics, just you and the Truth.

The Path To True Worship
Worshipping God is a rare thing.
Rituals and moments made special
are often mistaken for worship, but
few actually ever enter into true
worship.  I have found myself there
many times; a hurried time set
aside full of wandering thoughts
with no true connection; and the
only thing I did was satisfied my
conscience, not worship.
                                                                    Until
one hears the truth about their self in the light of
God's countenance, which can sometimes
start with counsel, the path to true worship is
something they'll have yet to experience.
Remember those piercing words of Jesus?
"Ye worship ye know not what: we know what
we worship: for salvation is of the Jews."
(John
4:22)
