The Truth About Grace
There is no one that can honestly say that they have not sinned
against God. The spirit of this world has seduced many into
attempting to justify themselves by their own works. We hear this in
statements like, "I don't rob or kill", "I'm not a bad person", "I try to
help people when I can," or "I'm not going to be a hypocrite like
other folks." The fact is that, righteousness, holiness, and salvation
are not the works of man. Eternal life can not and will not come by a
man who is tainted by sin and we will not become friends with God
just because we've decided to be "good". God is a just God and
that means that justice is always served; no one gets away! If you
sin, you die- period. Sin is the trade-off for our souls. The bible
says we were "sold under sin." The only thing that could satisfy the
debt of sin and "buy" us back was the blood of the unblemished
Lamb, Jesus Christ. To believe that there is any other way into the
kingdom of God is to believe a lie and Jesus says if we try another
way we are thieves and robbers! (John 10) The thing that wars
against our minds is the simplicity of the gospel. The gospel (good
news) of Jesus Christ is profoundly simple though it is incredibly
difficult to cast off reliance on any other means of righteousness
before God. We have been programmed to associate being
"good" with being acceptable because to the world we are, but not
before God. The only way to please God is through the eternal
Spirit of Jesus Christ- in whatever we do. So why do good? To get
to heaven? No! Not to get heaven, but because I'm going to
heaven. It's a thin line and it's the difference between peace and
fear, liberty and condemnation, joy and anguish, stability and
instability. Though there are consequences for wrong-doing, Jesus
says we would not have life because we didn't come to Him and
the greatest of all knowledge is to know that Jesus is alive and
through Him we have peace with the God of all gods! God bless
you! Peace...
